Careers

On an evening in May or June every year, some 70 members and friends of the OKC give their time to give seminars to small groups of pupils from the Lower 6th Form about their chosen career. The evening starts with a dinner in the Dining Hall, which gives participants a chance to network and catch up with old friends before the main event. The Club is always on the look-out for volunteers with a minimum of 3 years’ working experience.
Recent School leavers looking for professional mentors to guide them through their early professional development are welcome to contact the OKC.
A forum for established and aspiring entrpeneurs is under discussion. Check the web site for details.

2015 Careers Evening
June 21, 2015
The OKC designed and commissioned an online application which allows students to securely log in and view the anonymous profiles of prospective advisors. The students make 5 choices in order of preference and the system makes a list of advisors to contact and eventually assigns students to small seminar groups. Thus, control is placed in the hands of the students, making it more likely that they get the advice they are looking for. Our thanks go to Eleanor Sturge, who contacts all the advisors and makes everything run without a hitch.
The main event was preceded by drinks and supper, allowing advisors (mostly Old King’s Club members) to catch up with old friends and network with professional colleagues.
