David Hamilton (OK 1960) died September 2, 2024

David Hamilton (b. 9 December 1942), who has died aged 81 from progressive supranuclear palsy, began as a King’s pupil in 1956, having passed through the Junior School. Like his older brother, John, he was an outstanding athlete and rugby player who played for the school XV, for KCS Old Boys, Surrey and later for London Scottish.

His express pace made him a regular flyer in the legendary London Scottish Sevens team which thrilled Twickenham crowds at the Middlesex Sevens tournaments in the 1960s.

Qualified as an accountant he worked for Trident Television and then Michael Barrett Ltd. as Financial Director before establishing Link Licensing which was a distributor and licensing agent specialising in children’s television programming. The ‘Barbie’ brand as well as children’s programmes for ITV and ‘Barney’. ‘The First Snow of Winter’ and many others for the BBC were part of David’s portfolio.

David and his wife Jane (who predeceased him) were parents to 4 children, two girls and two boys.

The funeral service will be held at Lincoln Crematorium, Washingborough Road, Lincoln, LN4 2EF on Thursday 12th September at 2pm, followed by a light buffet and drinks at The Tower Hotel, 38 Westgate, Lincoln, LN1 3BD

Rather than formal flowers, David has aked that those who wish to do so make a donation to PSP society. If you would like to make a floral tribute, please bring a simple flower to be placed on the coffin. If you would like to share your memories and tributes, please do so on a small card or tag and attach it to your flower of choice. Both flowers and tags will be available at the crematorium.
