Peter Martin (OK 1967) died January 30, 2025

Peter Richard Martin (OK 1967) has died after a battle with cancer.

He joined the Junior School in the first form and later won an 11+ scholarship to the school.

He was in the rugby team throughout his school career, playing as a fearless scrum-half

He won a scholarship to Pembroke College Oxford to study geography but soon transferred to Trinity College Dublin to study medicine. He completed his medical training at Newcastle General Hospital. Then he relocated to Norway, where he worked for several years as a GP before moving into public health working at City Hall, Oslo.

Peter was a lifelong supporter of the Labour Party and had a keen interest in railways and, later, his garden. He is survived by his second wife Hilde, sons Robin and Sean, and seven granddaughters.
