Roger Theobald (OK 1958) died October 31, 2024

Roger entered the Junior School in 1951, aged 11. After a successful academic career at the school, he won a scholarship to St. John’s College, Cambridge, to read Classics. On graduating, he joined ICI and studied to be an accountant. He married in 1969 and immediately took up a post near Kabwe, Zambia. He went on to work in Mauritius, Malawi and Greece before coming back to the UK to teach accountancy at what was then Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham. In retirement, Roger worked on honing his language skills and became fluent in French, Italian and Greek, knowledge that he passed on to various U3A groups in Salisbury, where he lived for the rest of his life. Roger enjoyed rambling and, throughout his life, was a staunch supporter of Surrey and Fulham, often combining holidays with where they happened to be playing. He leaves his widow Penny, daughter Sally and three granddaughters.
